I try to make these questions a little funny but there is nothing remotely amusing about neuroanatomy. It is for neurologists who don't understand human feelings and neurosurgeons who don't understand that other people have human feelings.
Which of the following is correct regarding the brainstem?

Developmentally the brain can be divided into three sections; the forebrain (prosencephalon), the midbrain (mesencephalon), and the hindbrain (rhombencephalon).
The forebrain AKA the prosencephalon divides into the telencephalon and the diencephalon. telencephalon develops into the cerebrum which is basically the whole brain. The telencephalon is doing a lot of work here, the cerebrum is made up ot the entire cerebral cortex, the hippocampus, the basal ganglia, and the olfactory bulb. The diencephalon develops into the thalami; thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus, and subthalamus.
The midbrain anatomically connects the metencephalon and the diencephalon. It is part of the brainstem but develops on its own.
The hindbrain AKA the rhombencephalon, is composed of the metencephalon and myelencephalon. The metencephalon develops into the pons (where cranial nerves V, VI, VII, VIII originate) and cerebellum . The myelencephalon is develops into the medulla oblongata (where cranial nerves VIII, IX, X, XI, XII originate). By originate I mean that he nuclei of the nerve is in that part of the brain.
The brainstem is composed of the midbrain, the pons and the medulla oblongata, 10 cranial nerves originate in the brain stem: III and IV come from the midbrain, and as just discussed V, VI, VII, VIII come from the pons, and IX, X, XI, XII come from the medulla.
